Zandvoort - A Vacation Beach Resort in North Holland

Zandvoort is one of the most beautiful and popular beach resorts in the Netherlands. The town of Zandvoort, located within the municipality of same name, has a population of about 17,000 inhabitants who live in a territory of about 34,000 km2, with a density of approximately 500 inhabitants per km2. This destination is perfect for all those tourists who wish to travel to a place in Netherlands in which they can relax and enjoy sea landscapes while being close to several other important cities and a wide range of different attractions.

The main attraction offered by Zandvoort is, without any doubt, its beaches. This town has a main long sandy beach, which despite of the fact that it tends to be crowded in the best summer days, is perfect for relaxing under the sun or practicing water sports. Besides this beach, there also are some other small ones, among which there is a famous nudist beach located at about 2 kilometers from the center of the city. While visiting any of the beaches Zandvoort has, visitors would be able to find several restaurants next to them, where they could try some traditional local dishes while enjoying great landscapes.

The city of Zandvoort is located very close to Amsterdam, at a distance of around 15 miles or 24 kilometers to the west of this unofficial capital. This way, while having a vacation in this resort town, visitors can easily visit Amsterdam and enjoy the wide amount of different attractions it offers. Haarlem, another very appealing city in the Netherlands, is also located very near to Zandvoort, at only 5 miles or 7 kilometers from it, in such a way that tourists can visit this other destination almost as if it was all part of one same spot.

Those tourists who wish to visit Zaandvoort while being in Amsterdam would be able to find several easy ways to reach this destination. One of the easiest ways to travel from Amsterdam to Zandvoort and vice versa is by train. There are daily trains departing from Amsterdam to Zandvoort on an almost hourly basis, and this flow can usually be seen increased in summer time. Other great way to go to Zandvoort from Amsterdam is by bus. Tourists could find buses departing from Amsterdam towards this town every half an hour from Centraal Station, arriving to the destination in less than an hour.

Water sports are among the main attractions offered by this destination. Every year, an important amount of windsurfers come to this destination for several international competitions that take place in it. Besides windsurfing, visitors can also find the chance to practice other water sports, such as, for example catamaran racing, other of the major activities featured by this resort. It is also interesting to know that Zandvoort hosts the most important automobile racing circuit of the Netherlands, known as the Circuit Park Zandvoort, where until not long ago the Dutch Formula One Grand Prix used to take place.
