Manchester, the second main city in England, offers a great chance to travel for a vacation to a destination that combines history, entertainment, architecture, arts, and modern life in a very attractive way. This city is famous by being strongly bound to sports, especially through its renowned Manchester United football team, but also, for example, through its Lancashire County Cricket Club or by being the host of important sport related activities and competitions.

Manchester was already inhabited as long ago as before the Roman times. A very peculiar Christian word square dating from that époque was discovered in this area after some excavations. Manchester is divided in 32 districts or wards, each one of them offering a variety of attractions that allow tourists to always find something interesting to do or meet during their vacation. These districts are: Hulme, Harpurhey, Fallowfield, Chorlton, Gaythorn, Gorton, Burnage, Cheetham Hill, Cheetham, Benchill, Ancoats, Beswick, Ardwick, Baguley, Northenden, Miles Platting, Moston, Moss Side, Withington, Whalley Range, Woodhouse Park, Didsbury, Clayton, Blackley, Crumpsall, Bradford Hardy, Longsight, Levenshulme, Shartson, Rusholme, Wythenshawe, and Openshaw.

Reaching Manchester and traveling around within its urban area is very easy due to the great transportation methods this city offers. All those tourists who wish to meet this city by car, should know that this city counts with some of the largest roads and routes in the United Kingdom. Besides this, this city counts with the third largest airport in the United Kingdom, the Manchester International Airport which counts with its own railway station. Manchester is famous by its railway due to the fact that this city was where passenger rail travel was born in 1830. Nowadays, visitors would find a very complete line of railways connecting almost any spots they might wish to visit.
