The French Riviera
The Classic Luxury Vacation

The French Riviera is one of the most cosmopolitan, luxurious, and attractive destinations tourists can travel to in not only France, but the entire world as well. This destination combines very beautiful natural sceneries with top quality modern facilities and a very exciting nightlife, being ideal for a vacation full of activities and fun.

The popularity of the French Riviera did not start until the endings of the 19th century, when it was seen as a very attractive winter resort. As time passed by, this region of France started becoming very popular as a summer resort as well, until achieving the fame nowadays has of being one of the most desirable destinations in the world.

There are many different interesting places to visit within the French Riviera. Among these places, we can name, for example, Saint Tropez, Cannes, Saint Raphael, Hyeres, Saint Jean Cap Ferrat, Grasse, Sophia Antipolis, Nice, Saint Paul de Vence, Juan les Pins, Villefranche sur Mer, Beaulieu sur Mer, Monte Carlo, and Monaco.

 

The best time of the year to visit the French Riviera probably is between April and October when the weather is most propitious for enjoying the beach, although in July and August this destination tends to be crowded. Despite of this, this region of France counts with a mild Mediterranean climate most of the year, in such a way that tourists can still enjoy a great vacation if they travel to this destination in winter as well.

One less known but yet very interesting spot in the French Riviera is the Eze village. The Eze village, located near Monaco, was born during the 13th century when a group of Saracen pirates founded in it a good place for hiding, and after a while, for settling, building many fortified villages among which there was Eze. All these villages were built on the top of mountains or cliffs in order to allow its inhabitants have a good sight on the surroundings and count with a very strategic position. Nowadays, tourists can still visit several of these spots which are located at different parts of the French Riviera.

There are many different places to visit in the French Riviera and each one of them counts with its own peculiarities and characteristics. For example, Beaulieu Sur Mer counts with some of the most beautiful sea landscapes visitors could find in the entire Riviera, while Monaco counts with an important amount of excellent restaurants, attractive night clubs and pubs, and Nice has a very attractive shopping street full of shops, department stores and galleries.

Besides the outstanding beautiful landscapes and the exciting activities this destination offers, tourists can also find many interesting antique constructions and cultural buildings, such as an Archaeological Museum exhibiting objects that were traditional in this region of France 2000 years ago, the Russian Orthodox Cathedral built in Nice by the Tsar Nicholas for his son, or La Trophee des Alpes, a very impressing and peculiar Roman monument of a base of approximately 120 foot and a height of approximately 150 foot.
