Ely, located within the eastern area of England, in the district of Cambridge and at about 103 kilometers or 65 miles from London, is a very attractive cathedral city that tourists should not miss meeting when they travel to this region of England. The coasts and port area of Ely, on the River Great Ouse, are not only attractive but have played an important role throughout the city's history. The cathedral of Ely, called the Cathedral Church of the Holy and Undivided Trinity, is without any doubt, the first construction visitors should meet when they travel to this area of England. This cathedral, also known as the Ship of the Fens, was built between 1083 and 1350, and is a construction which all those tourists who are fond of disciplines such as design and architecture should not miss. It might be interesting to know that the main tower of this cathedral collapsed in the year 1323, and was re-built in an interesting octagonal shape.
