1895 Alfred Nobel establishes Nobel Prize…
Alfred Bernhard Nobel (Born: October 21, 1833. Died: December 10, 1896) was, among other things, the Swedish chemist who invented dynamite. After his invention, he turned his iron and steel mill into an armament factory called Bofors. In his Will, Nobel created the famous Nobel Prizes. This was a compensatory act on his part, as he was not at all well liked in his era. In 1988 his death was falsely reported in a French newspaper. Here is a quote from that newspaper: "Dr. Alfred Nobel, who became rich by finding ways to kill more people faster than ever before, died yesterday."
