Featured event for the day
30BC Cleopatra 7th, queen of Egypt, commits suicide…
Cleopatra VII Philopator later became "Cleopatra Thea Neotera Philopator kai Philopatris." The name "Cleopatra" was popular among Egyptian queens. However, when the name Cleopatra is used, it is this queen who is most remembered.

Cleopatra shared her rule of Egypt with her father, her brothers, her husbands, and her son. Her son, Ptolemy XV Caesarion, was the child of Caesar, and the rightful heir to the throne, but he was assassinated shortly after his mother's suicide. Cleopatra also had three children with Marc Antony. After having been told Cleopatra was dead, Antony committed suicide. The consensus is that Cleopatra died from the bite of an Asp, as did the two servants in the room with her at the time of her suicide.
